Reimbursement Process
Suppliers (foreign and local) winning KIMADIA tenders will be issued a letter of credit LC by the amount of the tender, the LC can be released upon delivery of the supplies and equipment to the KIMADIA stores, in some instances where the tender entails warranty, aftersales services or training elements then 5-6% of the value of the tender will be kept by KIMADIA until all items of the sales are fulfilled.

KIMADIA, is the government-owned public company managed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Baghdad, and is responsible for the importation and distribution of all pharmaceuticals, medical appliances, laboratory equipment, laboratory consumables, and medical equipment for all public health care facilities in Iraq (including the Kurdistan Region).

Additionally, it is important to note that while it is not absolutely necessary to have a local agent or representative to participate in the tenders, KIMADIA practices tend to favor companies with local representatives or who sell through a scientific office.
Private Sector: other than the government facilities, local private companies have the right to import and sell pharmaceuticals and medical appliances and equipment to the private clinics and privately owned hospitals.
KIMADIA is authorized to procure only new equipment because only new equipment is permitted to be used in the public hospitals while the private sector can buy and use refurbished equipment in their facilities.
