- Class II competition-style gaming machines at tribal casinos are subject to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, a federal law, which does not set payout limits nor require public reporting of return statistics.
- Class III Vegas-style slot machines at tribal casinos are subject to tribal-state gaming compacts stating VLTs are controlled off-site by the New York State Lottery. These VLTs have a minimum theoretical payout limit of 92%. No return statistics are publicly available.
- Commercial casino resorts do not have theoretical payout limits. Return statistics are publicly available as weekly and monthly reports. See the Commercial Gaming Reports tab at the NY State Gaming Commission.
- Commercial racetracks with their video slot machines do not have theoretical payout limits. Return statistics are publicly available as weekly and monthly reports. See the Video Gaming Reports tab at the NY State Gaming Commission.
Regarding monthly return statistics for the commercial sites, player win percentage is available only after performing a simple calculation. Specifically, divide Credits Won by Credits Played and then multiply the result by 100% to get Player Win%.

Neighboring NJ is one of the few states that fully regulate an online casino market for those passing through its state. New York online casinos, however, do not exist… just yet. Legislation needs to be passed for New Yorkers to play casino games online and the state’s best bet is that lawmakers choose to allow this type of gaming when they work on passing legal sports wagering.
Without any major hiccups, NY should be well on its way to regulating online casinos.
Despite the multiple offerings of land-based casinos, the Empire State does not provide residents with access to an online version of these casinos at this time. Many other states have taken initiatives to legalize online casinos and it is believed that New York will do the same in the near future, but for now, anyone that is looking to play games online and generate payouts will have no choice but to play at other licensed sites that operate outside of the state or country.
NY Online Casinos Gambling regulations timeline
The legal landscape surrounding NY Online Casinos is one that is at a standstill. The US government allowed individual states to legalize and operate online casinos in 2013, and New York is still not on board. As of now, there are no bills in place to even legalize online casinos in the state.
There are bills that have been submitted in regards to the operation of online poker rooms and online sports betting, but as for online casinos, there is no word on whether the state will start to operate these venues in the near future.

However, a few land-based New York Casinos are already prepared to launch online and mobile platforms should gambling laws be changed and online casinos sites allowed.

There are four different NY tribes that own casinos and gaming facilities in the state. These tribes and the casinos are listed below.

- Seneca Nation
- Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel
- Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino
- Seneca Gaming & Entertainment Oil Spring
- Seneca Gaming & Entertainment Allegany
- Seneca Gaming & Entertainment Cattaraugus
- Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel
Commercial Casinos
There are five different commercial casinos that have started to operate in NY and these provide access to slots, video poker, and table and card games. The available NY Casinos that are commercially owned and operated include Del Lago Resort and Casino, Jake’s 58 Hotel & Casino, Resorts World Catskills, Rivers Casino & Resort, and Tioga Downs & Casino.
Which Online Casino Games can I play in New York?
At this time, no online casino games can be played for real money in the state of New York. The state is working on passing laws that will allow for the operation of New York Online Casinos and when this happens, you will have the ability to engage in some thrilling games and begin winning real money payouts. NY Online Casinos will offer access to the most popular games and you will find an impressive portfolio of titles from leading software providers.
Casino Slots
Once NY Online Casinos are legalized and begin to operate, you will be able to spin to win on some exciting online slot games. You will find a mix of traditional slots, as well as the latest video slots and these will all offer great betting options. Video Poker
This will surely be available at New York online casinos and this game is one of the more popular choices. It offers great chances to win and there are many variations you can expect once online casinos are legalized. You will also find video poker games that feature multi-hand play as well as some titles that are linked to progressive jackpots.
Online Poker in New York
Online poker sites are not allowed to operate in the state of New York, but you can find sites that cater to US players that will accept real money wagers. NY Casinos do offer many poker tables when you visit any of the land-based venues, but as for online poker options, there are no legal sites in the state at this time.
There is currently a bill that has been filed to legalize online poker in the Empire State, though the prospects for passage of this bill appear to be middling.
How to choose the best casino games
While slot games will be among the most popular selections at NY Online Casinos, they are not always the best option if you are looking to generate profits. These games have lower odds, though they can produce some nice wins over time.
If you want to enjoy frequent payouts and boost your bankroll, you will want to head to the blackjack games. These offer the best chances of winning and when you use basic blackjack strategy, you can reduce the house edge.
Craps will also be a good selection in terms of odds and you will have a 50-50 chance of winning with most bets. The game can be intimidating at first, so be sure to check out any free Craps games that will be available at NY Online Casinos.
How to register at online casinos
Once New York Casinos are allowed to start operating online sites, you will find you can easily sign up to begin playing an array of casino games and poker selections. Free and Real Money Gambling
There are just no operating NY based sites at this time. With hundreds of online casinos in the industry, there are many other options and players who are wanting to get started playing at an online gambling site can visit any US-focused website and test the games for free. Each online casino usually has an array of free play games that can be enjoyed. While these will not offer any payouts, they are a great way to learn how online casino games work and to take time to preview titles and learn what each site has to offer.
If you are from a location where real-money gaming is allowed, you can sign up at a casino site and choose from the supported methods of deposit. An account can then be funded and players can begin to place wagers on the supported games for the chance to win payouts. Real money gambling is a great way to enjoy the thrills of casino games without leaving home, but for NY players, you will have to wait until the legislation catches up with the online casino demand.

Players will find they can redeem exciting bonuses like reload bonuses, cash back rewards, referral bonuses, free spins, and so much more. Sites will also have loyalty programs like those featured at land-based casinos and as one placed real money wagers, they can earn points to redeem for casino cash or merchandise.
Types of Online Casino Games for New Yorkers
In addition to the advantages of having multiple casino bonuses when playing online, players will also find they have a larger assortment of games. Online casinos are able to offer more titles than a land-based casino and many sites are home to hundreds of games. There are endless options when it comes to choosing titles and players will always find each online casino to offer a huge selection of slot games. These will include Vegas-style three reel slots, five reel video slots, and even games that are linked to progressive jackpots.
Online casinos will also have a nice array of table and card games with variations of classic games like blackjack, poker, roulette, craps, and baccarat can be played. These sites also present a well-rounded selection of video poker games as well as specialty games like Bingo, Keno, and instant win scratch cards.
One of the more popular types of casino games found at an online site is a live dealer game. These are the most realistic form of a casino game online and they are simulcast from a land location, played in real-time, and use professional dealers.
